Why Practice Qigong?
Medical Qigong is an ancient form of Chinese energetic medicine and is a branch of Chinese Medicine. The methods offer a way to harmonize qi to support the optimal function of the Zang-Fu organs and facilitate free-flowing Qi throughout the body by unwinding knots and removing blockages.
Because each person is unique, each person’s reason for learning Qigong, as well as each person’s Qigong experience, is different. For one student of the Ling Gui School, the initial impetus to learn Qigong came from wanting relief from the debilitating symptoms associated with Fibromyalgia. Another student wanted a deeper connection to life and his place in it. Yet another student wanted a non-impact method of keeping fit and healthy. For everyone, however, this is a journey and the reasons for practicing Qigong evolve as the Qigong experience grows. In the end, Qigong is as large as the universe and just as mysterious and full of surprises. We practice Qigong to return to the harmonies of nature, to our natural place in the universal patterns.
The World Needs More Qigong
In these high-speed modern times, people of all ages spend increasing amounts of their lives in front of electronic screens—computers, televisions, smartphones, tablets, and video games. Living this way affects not only our physical health, but also our mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, influencing both individuals and society as a whole.
Through more than five decades of practicing and teaching Qigong, my creativity has continually expanded as I have developed new Qigong methodologies for modern life. Over the years, I began noticing that my students, clients, and people everywhere no longer possessed the same vitality they once carried in their daily lives. There was a visible depletion of energy, enthusiasm, resilience, and inner balance.
I realized this change was deeply connected to our increasingly fast-paced world. Everything around us is accelerating—the internet is faster, our phones are faster, our machines are faster, and our minds are under constant stimulation. As technology consumes more electricity, human beings also consume more Qi.
This depletion especially affects our Yang Qi, the body’s protective and defensive life force. In Western terms, it can be compared to aspects of immune function and overall vitality. When Yang Qi becomes excessively depleted, the body weakens and loses its natural resilience. This imbalance may contribute to chronic fatigue, accelerated aging, autoimmune disorders, emotional instability, and even serious illnesses such as cancer.
I began asking myself: How can human beings adapt to this rapidly accelerating world when our internal organs, nervous systems, and energetic foundations have not fundamentally changed for thousands of years?
The answer came to me through these Qigong forms, which draw upon ancient Taoist wisdom to meet the urgent needs of modern humanity.
In Chinese medicine, Yang Qi is one of the essential foundations of health, vitality, and immunity. When Yang Qi weakens, illness can arise more easily. Qigong offers a practical and powerful way to restore, strengthen, and replenish this life force.
The Qigong forms that came to me are multidimensional in nature. They integrate ancient Taoist philosophy, energy cultivation, lifestyle guidance, Feng Shui, astrology, and what I call “Qi GPS”—an inner guidance system that helps people reconnect with themselves so they no longer feel lost in today’s chaotic world.
The world does not need less technology—it needs greater balance. Humanity now requires practices that help restore harmony between modern life and our deeper human nature. Qigong offers that bridge.
More than ever before, the world needs Qigong.

“Master Liu He’s teachings sparkle with intelligence and relevance to our current times while being firmly rooted in a deep tradition. She is rare both as a female qigong Master and as a Master trained within the context of a traditional qigong family from China. While she holds many of the intricate methodologies of Chinese Energetic Medicine and Chinese cultural wisdom, she is also an innovator preparing us to live more aligned with the natural world even in the face of a hyper technological modernity. Her latest form she is sharing with us, The Super Magic Square, combines simple accessible ways to work with acupoints and elegant movements that yoke us to the stars in order to digest the overwhelming amounts of information our brains are subject to from the internet, social media and augmented reality devices which will be more and more a part of our daily life. Master Liu, with great kindness and enthusiasm leads us into the most powerful technology we own, our own body-mind-spirit.”
